Hey guys, sorry for late post. This coronavirus really makes me tighten my schedule. I am available to post again!
PS Vita has been around since 2012 (2011 in Japan) and to be honest, the development is not too extraordinary compared to PS4. Games that are popping up aren’t too many and aren’t always games that are exclusive to PS Vita. But seeing this as it’s approaching the middle of 2014, there are already many games that I think will make you interested in buying PS Vita.
After you buy PS Vita, maybe you think, “What game should I play?”. Therefore, I am trying to make a short list of what games you should play on PS Vita.
- Child of Light
Yep, the game that has previously been reviewed by Games in Asia Indonesia has become one of the games that will make you interested in having PS Vita. This RPG released by Ubisoft is full of beautiful watercolor-style graphics. In addition, this game also has a very typical gameplay like old school RPG that is turn based RPG. It feels like a game with this genre is very suitable to be played only in the grip plus the touchscreen or touchpad functions that can be implemented to move one of the characters.
- Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
The sequel from Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is guaranteed to make you interested in playing it on PS Vita, especially for you fans of visual novels like Phoenix Wright. Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair continues the tradition of the previous series with a story full of mystery but wrapped with a visual display of a mixture of manga and pop art that is full of bright colors. Things that are contradictory like this certainly make you very curious as to what the stories and games in this game actually are, plus visual novels are genres that I feel are suitable to be played mobile.
- Velocity 2X
Arcade shooter that you can carry around? Velocity 2X has a high-speed shoot ’em up gameplay that adds to the appeal of this sci-fi shoot’ em game ’up. Velocity 2X hasn’t been released yet but I think this game looks promising even though it’s just a trailer.
- Gravity Rush
Honestly, I have never played this one game, but this is one of the games that I was after when I saw the trailer two years ago. Gravity Rush (Gravity Daze in Japan) is a game that allows you to control gravity to move places to attack enemies. Not only that, you can move Kat, the main character, by using the gyroscope in Vita.
- Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward
Virtue Last Reward (hereinafter I will short VLR) is the second game in the Zero Escape series. This game is a direct sequel from 999 which had the GiA discussed a few months ago. VLR carries a hybrid genre between visual novel and puzzle. For business puzzles, this game might be comparable to the series The Room, but for the affairs of the story, there is no game that can be compared with VLR. This game will present you a story that is guaranteed to make you repeatedly gape while saying “WHAAAT ?!” My advice, play 999 first before trying to play this game for a wider gape experience.
- Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD
Who doesn’t know Final Fantasy? Final Fantasy X, which was very popular in the PS2 era, is now back in PS Vita and with updated visual quality. It feels nothing wrong to return to reminisce with one of the games that captivated the hearts of many RPG fans. As I mentioned before, RPG is very suitable to be played mobile so I think FF X is very suitable to be played on PS Vita.
From the creators of Little Big Planet, came Tearaway. With gameplay full of creativity, this game is perfect for playing on PS Vita. You can use the camera to take pictures of real objects and then put them in the game. Not only that, the use of touch pad and touch screen also adds to the fun in playing. I think this is a game that all PS Vita users should try at least.
- Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd
Okay, first of all this is my favorite game. Second, this is one rhythm game that is very fun to play. This game is also actually on PS3, but if you can play it anywhere isn’t that more fun? Project Diva F 2nd has catchy song tracks and simple gameplay that exists from easy to super difficult range. So for fans of rhythm games (and Vocaloid), Project Diva F 2nd must be interesting enough to have PS Vita.
- Persona 4 Golden
One of the legendary RPGs from the end of the PS2 era. Not only does Persona 4 Golden have the same story as the regular version, but it also has new scenarios, new characters and new gameplay that will make you feel at home playing your PS Vita. At the time this game was released, you could say Persona 4 Golden was one of the system sellers for PS Vita.
- Freedom Wars
Freedom Wars is a hunting game like Monster Hunter with quite interesting story settings. You must defeat Abductors to reduce your prison term which is 1 million years long. The gameplay presented by Freedom Wars is also quite interesting with various types of weapons, character customization, and the use of thorn-shaped hook grappling. If you want a game that can be played in multiplayer and has a unique world view, I think Freedom Wars must be played.
- Tales of Hearts R.
One of the anticipated RPGs seems to be able to strengthen your desire to have a Vita PS. The RPG made by Bandai Namco which was previously released on NDS has been updated in terms of its visual and gameplay. In addition, this game will also release its English soon so you can play more comfortably.
- Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment
Games that are based on anime / light novels are a must have especially for fans of the anime series. Visual appearance like an anime, a story based on a novel and gameplay like a pretty exciting online game should be able to make Sword Art Online fans record this game as one of the games worth buying.
- Zettai Zetsubou Shoujo – Danganronpa: Another Episode
This game was just announced in Japan a while ago and I think any game with Danganronpa frills is a must for you to try. Another Episode is different from the previous Danganronpa game because this game is a third person shooter / action game. Seeing the visual that is the hallmark of Danganronpa still appears even though in a different form, it seems this game is quite inviting for you to try.
- Soul Sacrifice Delta
Other hunting games that I feel are mandatory to try. Soul Sacrifice Delta is an updated version of Soul Sacrifice, that means you will find lots of content and lots of improvements here and there that make the game more fun. Soul Sacrifice has a unique gameplay that requires you to sacrifice or sacrifice something so you need to think before you act when facing an enemy.
- Ys: Memories of Celceta
If you have never played the Ys series before, I think this is the right time for you to start playing it. Ys has a very evocative battle system to play and interesting stories to follow. Action RPG fans should immediately target this one game to be played on PS Vita.
I think the arcade shooter game made by the people behind Tempest 2000 is a must have for PS Vita users. With unique graphics plus a cool soundtrack and solid gameplay, it feels like TxK can be a cool game to play when you’re bored.
That’s about 15 games that I recommend for you to play on PS Vita. One thing you might notice is that most of the games above are made in Japan and that is actually not surprising. This may be due to the fact that PS Vita is selling more in Japan than in America or Europe.
Maybe my choice is not the same as what you have in mind, so don’t hesitate to add a game that you feel obliged to play on PS Vita by commenting below.
